Psalm 2

1 Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?

Yes Lord, I wonder why the nations and their people rage.  Why do they see You as a threat to their autonomy?  As for me, I know without your guidance, I make terrible choices about everything.  Thank You, though, You will oppose their shenanigans.

2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed, saying,

It seems Lord that whatever Your Word counsels, leaders say to themselves, "well I will do the exact opposite.  Who does the Lord think He is?"  Then leaders take it further and egg each other on in their obstinacy.

3 "Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us."

Why Lord? Those of us who follow You are at liberty, but they see You as holding them back.

4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.

How silly humans must be to You!  The creation thinking it knows better than the Creator who bestowed the gift of life to them.

5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying,

Understandable Lord, humans need to awaken to how imbecilic we can be.

6 "As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill."

Thanks be to You, for the indescribable gift of Your only begotten Son.

7 I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, "You are my Son; today I have begotten you.

Help me to tell others about their need of salvation thru Your Son.

8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.

The world and everything that is in it belong to You.

9 You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel."

I look forward to the time when Your righteous rule comes and evil will not even be a possibility.

10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth.

How much they will answer for when they stand before You in judgment.

11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

I want to do this to the best of my ability; I will need Your strength to do it well.

12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

I never want to leave You or forsake You.  I want to spend eternity with You.  To those who reject You, open their eyes to what they are risking.  I am blessed Lord by Your presence in my life.  Amen.
